Steven Nye

Steven Nye is a documentary filmmaker from Minneapolis, MN. He is best known for his documentary Losing Grip (2023) following U.S. Olympic Gymnast Shane Wiskus over the course of six years. The film premiered at the 2023 Sarasota Film Festival. His first documentary, El Paquete Semanal (2017), set in Cuba, won a Silver Medal at the Scholastic National Art & Writing Awards. His short documentary, American Air Boss (2021) won Best Documentary and Best Editing at the 2022 Palm Beaches Student Showcase of Films as well as recognized as a work in progress at the 2020 Miami Film Festival. His senior thesis A Day in the Life of a Stunt Pilot (2021) was an official selection in the 2022 Gasparilla International Film Festival. He earned his BFA in Film and Media Arts from the University of Tampa and now resides in Tampa running his own film production company, S Nye Films.
