Sylvia Obell
Sylvia Obell is an entertainment journalist whose relatable and entertaining approach to news has made her a valued rising voice in culture. In 2020, Obell joined Scottie Beam as co-host of "Okay, Now Listen," a podcast produced in collaboration with Netflix's stellar "Strong Black Lead." Essence has raved the show for its "hilarious candor" and The Hollywood Reporter calls it the "one standout" of SBL. Previously, Obell developed and was featured as the host of BuzzFeed's "Hella Opinions," and was a producer and correspondent for BuzzFeed's flagship morning news show, "AM to DM." Obell's sharp reporting skills have led to interviews with the likes of Shonda Rhimes and Gabrielle Union, and her work has included cover stories on Zendaya and Lizzo.
