J. Randall was born in Sacramento, California, the son of Barbara (Zachary) and Joseph G. Randall, an award winning Chef who recently was inducted into the Smithsonian Institute's National Museum of African American History and Culture. After growing up in both South Central Los Angeles and Claremont, California, the family relocated to suburban Baltimore, Maryland where J. attended Franklin High School. During his time at Franklin, J. was enrolled in Gifted and Talented Art, took up theatre, while also excelling in varsity football. After turning down multiple scholarship offers from smaller FCS Schools, J. went to study at The University of South Carolina, Columbia and walked on to the Gamecock Football Team. Following a brief stint there he would transfer to Georgia Southern University where he completed his eligibility as a member of consecutive Southern Conference Champions. After graduating in 2004, J. would later move to Atlanta, GA where he began coaching high school athletics. After that experience he would focus on personal training and compete as an amateur boxer. He entered the industry as a featured football player on the USA Network dramatic series Necessary Roughness. Since joining the arena of film and television, J. has worked as a lead, or supporting actor on several feature films, television pilots, and indies.

J is the co-creator, cinematographer and director of the high-energy mockumentary series, Slo Pitch (IFC/OutTV), which recently aired season 2 on IFC and AMC+. J directed two episodes of Astrid & Lilly Save the World (Crave, Syfy). J also directed on season two of the Peabody award winning series, Sort Of (HBO Max, CBC). J received a Best Directorial Achievement in a Comedy Series nomination at the Directors Guild of Canada Awards 2022 for Astrid & Lilly Save The World. J was named one of Playback Magazine's 'Top 10 Filmmakers To Watch 2022' and was selected for the TIFF Filmmakers Lab 2022 as well as one of TIFF's Every Story Fellows.

J'Dvonte is a Musician Institute Honors Alumni with a degree in Music Business. J'Dvonte is an actor, producer and classically trained multi-musician, which includes a widespread of 12 instruments, including that of voice and musician software programming. When he was 12 years old, he joined Youth Onstage, an independent acting troupe in Tulsa, OK, where he played his first role as "Father Wood" in the classic play, Jane Eyre. Davidson continued as a constant member of Youth Onstage, and eventually began writing and directing for the troupe. In 2010 Davidson made his debut on screen with the short film Glitch. Soon after he began attending classes at The Actor Factory in Norman, OK, to better hone his skills as an actor.
