After a fifteen year career as a research engineer Olly turned to acting to follow a life long obsession with film. Having worked in the electronics industry he has a strong technical interest and knowledge, and when not filming he is a keen overland motorcyclist and active rally competitor in Europe and North Africa.

After securing a place to study English Literature at Trinity College Oxford, Olly became actively involved in the university's dramatic society. Upon graduating he was awarded a scholarship to train at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and studied there for two years. Upon graduating from LAMDA, Ollly met Gregory Doran - the Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) - and was offered the title role in Shakespeare's "lost play" Cardenio. Doran directed and Olly performed the role to critical acclaim, cited as a "dashing professional debut" for Olly by Mark Shenton writing for The Stage, noted for "a beguiling Cardenio" by Mark Taylor at the Independent and being telegraphed as a "talented young man on the path to future stardom" by Simon Tavener at London's leading theatre website WhatsOnStage. While at the RSC, Olly also worked with acclaimed British playwright Antony Neilson. Other theatre roles followed, including The City Madam at the RSC and I Am A Camera, to name a few. Most recently Olly reunited with Neilson for his original play Narrative in a part specifically written for Olly by Neilson and performed at the Royal Court.
Olly Sholotan is a Nigerian-American actor, singer, and music producer. He can be seen starring in Peacock's hit series BEL AIR as Carlton Banks. He recently appeared in the 2020 Venice International Film Festival selection, "Run Hide Fight" for Voltage opposite Thomas Jane, Radha Mitchell and Isabel May for writer/director Kyle Rankin. Sholotan is coming out next in the upcoming film "Gigi & Nate" penned by David Hudgins ("Friday Night Lights") for director Nick Hamm ("Driven") opposite Marcia Gay Harden, Josephine Langford, Diane Ladd and Jim Belushi. As a musician, Olly's work has been featured in various short and feature length projects including "Run Hide Fight" as well as garnered hundreds of thousands of streams across music platforms on his own independent label, Lamintin Records. Sholotan trained out of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. A Houston, Texas Native, Olly is an alum of the Kinder High School for Performing and Visual Arts as well as a 2015 YoungArts finalist in theater.
