Sophie Rankin

Sophie Rankin is a British actress and model. She was born in England Hampshire to Karen and Grahame Rankin both of English heritage. She has one brother called Ben Rankin. They're a very close family and Sophie speaks so highly of her upbringing and the remarkable best friend relationship that she has with her mother. As a child and teenager she competed at a high level in county gymnastics which was her biggest passion and she was very sporty and did a lot of dancing. After completing her ALevels in dance, drama, theatre studies, English language and psychology she went on to study Film and TV acting at the Actors Studio in London and the New York film Academy in the US. Sophie moved to London to start a performance career and worked hard attending as many auditions as she could and did regular one on one workshops with an acting coach in London Oxford street. She got into modeling and commercial dancing first and appeared in 32 British and American music videos, TV commercials, fashion lines, bollywood films and landed modeling contracts for various fashion lines, Subway and Superdrug makeup. She then began breaking into the acting industry and was cast in the Blood army feature film, English Breakfast film, an Indian TV series Love is greater than God and went on to do more films. She then landed a role in the very popular UK TV series Emmerdale playing Erica. Sophie has also been featured in many TV commercials and several British reality series including Lee Nelson's well good show and On the road with Jack Whitehall. She also did a TV pilot for the BBC which was filmed in Miami and Nicaragua where she enthuses about being given the opportunity to go volcano surfing! In 2015 Sophie got into pageantry and won the title of Miss Wonderful UK and then went on to represent England in Miss Global International and made it the finals which were held in Manila Philippines. Sophie then ended up moving to the Philippines after falling in love with the country and the people there and was offered a lot of modeling and acting work and ended up staying for 5 years! She was featured in many TV commercials and secured modeling contracts all over Asia for big brands such as Vision Express, Minar Jewellery, Bio Luce shampoo, Eslite skin products, Akero lingerie, Red Ribbon in the US, Akero beauty products, Jazzy France makeup and many more. She was a TV presenter in the Happy life TV series for GMA news and played Celine- a main role in the Mr and Mrs Cruz cinema released film in 2018 with VIVA. In 2019 she was also featured as a main role in the GMA Boy Tokwa film that also made it to cinema and she had a role playing Macey in the very popular GMA TV series called Asawa Ko Karibal Ko. In 2017 Sophie won the international beauty queen title of Miss Harmony World in Bali Indonesia which opened more doors for her within modeling in the Asian market and she was constantly flying to and from from Malaysia and the Philippines for shoots. She also worked as a presenter and public speaker in China for 6 months presenting live events in 2018. Sophie's extensively traveled all over the world and has done a lot of work for charity along the way. She climbed Kilimanjaro in Africa to raise money for No More Malaria UK in 2014. Shes volunteered in orphanages in Vietnam, Thailand and Africa. She also worked as a voluntary English teacher for children and adults during her time in Tanzania. In 2014 Sophie also produced and directed a fashion show in London together with Revail model group to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. She's now back in London working on new acting projects here in the UK and has most recently been cast as one of the main characters in award winning director Howard J Fords next film "Canyon".
