Ishaan Khattar
Ishaan Khatter is a new-age Bollywood actor who comes from a family of film stars. He was born to Rajesh Khattar and Neelima Azim, both actors by profession. Also, renowned actor Shahid Kapoor is Khatter's half-brother.
He completed his schooling at Jamnabai Narsee School and later went to Billabong High International School.
He started working in movies when he was a kid. He made his first on-screen appearance in the 2005 film, Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi! (2005). The movie had Shahid Kapoor, Khatter's half-brother, as the lead.
He entered the mainstream Industry with his debut in Majid Majidi's drama, Beyond the Clouds (2017). This movie premiered at the BFI London Film Festival and was released in 2018 across theatres in India. He won the Best Actor award for the film at the 5th International Bosphorus Film Festival and a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for his performance as a drug dealer in the drama.
His film Dhadak (2018), where he starred opposite Janhvi Kapoor, was his first commercial success. The movie was directed by Shashank Khaitan and was inspired by a Marathi blockbuster, Sairat (2016). The plot of Dhadak (2018) revolves around the love story of two youngsters in Rajasthan and how they struggle with issues like caste discrimination, political pressure, etc., to make things work. The movie, Dhadak made over Rs.1.1 billion, making it a big commercial success.
He is also a part of the popular British miniseries, A Suitable Boy (2020) released in 2020. He was cast opposite renowned actress Tabu in this series. Critics and audiences across the country widely appreciated his performance in this series.
Khatter was also cast alongside Katrina Kaif and Siddhant Chaturvedi in the comedy-horror movie Phone Bhoot (2022) in 2022. He appeared in a commercial short film for Apple Inc. the following year, Fursat (2023), which Vishal Bhardwaj directed using an iPhone 14 Pro.
