Laura Kennon
Laura Rose Kennon was born on June 17 in Napa, California to her mother Kelly who worked in the printing and reproductions industry and her father Billy Joe Jr. who was a CNC Lathe and Mill Machinist at the time. She is of Irish, Italian, and Norwegian descent. She and her two younger sisters were raised by her mother and they had a humble upbringing in a different social and economic class as the greater majority of her hometown. Laura was the fourth generation of her family to attend her primary/intermediate K-8 school, and second generation at her secondary school and was admitted with financial assistance in relation to her grandfather being in the first class to attend the school when it opened in 1912.
Growing up, her mother and sisters enjoyed various artistic expressions with a heavy emphasis on film and music. Awards show ceremonies were coveted events in their household. She was shy in her early years, but dance, sports, and improvised comedic performances for her classmates helped Laura break out of her shell. Laura in high school choreographed many dances for talent shows and homecoming events showing her immense creative skills early on. She shined in the limelight by showing her comedic and creative self in school announcements, which was her specialty. Film had a majorly positive impact on her emotional processing of complex traumatic early life events. Because of this, she knew she wanted to be an actor herself, but did not feel brave enough to pursue that as her profession until reaching adulthood.
Despite being heavily encouraged by her improv teacher and head of theatre department during class in high school to join theatre or pursue training in general, it wasn't until 2011 when Laura moved to the Bay Area that she began her formal learning in film and television acting with First Take Acting and later with Kathy McGraw Studios. She also attended classes for improvisation at MadeUp Theatre, joined a freestanding improv troupe called She's British that traveled for performances, and became a regular performer Friday nights on the house team at American Improv Theatre in San Jose. She signed with a local talent agency, and Laura began auditioning. Laura took background and featured acting roles for local films and television shows, as well as performed various lead and supporting roles in locally shot short films.
In 2016 she moved to Los Angeles to continue her learning and cultivate her career as an actress. Currently she can be seen as one of the lead actresses in the feature film Red Snow. The film had its international premiere at London FrightFest on August 26, 2021, and was released worldwide on December 28, 2021 on dvd and streaming services.
